As an Engineering Project Manager (PM) for the Surgery and Heart Failure Platform, you will make significant contributions towards Abiomed's next generation of Impella 5.5 and BTR heart pumps. The ideal Project Manager candidate will be goal, data-driven, detail oriented; and experienced in the medical industry.  The Project Manager will drive complex development projects and own all aspects of the project life cycles. Coordination of multiple projects across the Surgical Platform to drive efficiency and optimal use of resources are expected. This role is part of a technical group and the successful candidate will be eager to get involved in the development cycle to contribute to the continued success of Abiomed.

 

Principle Duties and Responsibilities :

·        Coordinate, prioritize, and facilitate concurrent projects and demands in large, diverse, cross-functional teams.

·        Effectively generate work breakdown structures and develop project schedules which clearly articulate critical path activities

·        Fluently and regularly implement fast tracking to accelerate with quality the process from concept to market in record time

·        Develop and set interim goals and milestones to ensure overall project success  

·        Perform risk management with qualitative and quantitative risk analysis techniques, monitor and control project risk, and implement risk response activities as necessary to preserve timely delivery of high quality products

·        Coordinate meetings, minutes, presentations and provide regular detailed management reports while utilizing experience in scrum to keep team focused and engaged in execution

·        Develop and maintain project status dashboards. Prepare and present project planning and execution summaries to attain agreement on project scope

·        Work with engineering team to ensure timely and complete DHF / design control deliverables. 

·        Make informed and justified data driven decisions quickly, effectively, and with the highest levels of confidence and accountability

·        Suggest, contribute, and champion initiatives to improve the Product Development’s operations and procedures

Qualifications

 Job Qualifications: 

·        BS in Mechanical, Biomedical Engineering or directly related scientific discipline. 

·        5+ years experience leading and executing the coordination of projects and the delivery of products in engineering/R&D teams. Exceptional project coordination skills while being able to multi-task and meet multiple project schedules on time. 

·        Expert in understanding design controls and deliverables. 

·        Strong verbal and written communication, analytical/problem solving, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. 

·        Ability to understand and apply applicable FDA regulations and company operating procedures, processes, policies, and rules. 

·        Familiarity presenting on and explaining projects at all levels of the organization. 

·        Team oriented. Proven teamwork skills in a cross-functional engineering environment, ability to motivate and empower team members, set and manage expectations. 

·        Experience and ability interacting with FDA and other regulatory agencies. 

·        Proficiency with project budgeting and forecasting, MS PowerPoint, Project Management softwares, MS Excel. 

·        10-20% Travel (project dependent)
