The role sits within the Data Science organization, a unit of Janssen R&D. The position will be located in Raritan, NJ; Titusville, NJ; Spring House, PA; Cambridge, MA; South San Francisco, CA; and La Jolla, CA. May consider other US East Coast location commutable to J&J location.

Responsibilities:

• Leads design of data driven solutions and analysis ready data assets
• Engineer multi modal data sets including biomarker, diagnostics operations, medical imaging, clinical outcomes, omics and clinical operations
• Capable of hands-on technical execution of a project inclusive of managing external parties / vendors.
• Is capable of driving conversations related to data acquisition, ingestions, analytics, privacy and ethical use of data.
• Capable of drafting and/or contributing to peer reviewed publications, patents, and external presentations prefered
• Consistently delivers high quality technical and/or scientific solutions for managing multi modal data assets
• Capable of developing roadmaps supporting the scaling and evolution of data driven solutions

Technical Skills

• Extensive expertise in Data Engineering and Bioinformatics with fluency in both domains
• Knowledge of biomarkers, molecular biology, clinical data knowledge required
• Knowledge of cloud technology, modern data engineering technology, data pipeline development, ETL, Python, R required

Teamwork Characteristics

• Works under limited supervision with a high-level of autonomy
• Collaborates seamlessly with cross-functional teams, including Data Scientists, Oncology & Immunology Computational Biologists, TR Scientists, and Biomarker Diagnostics Operations
• May supervise contractors

Communication and Influence

• Can present data product strategy and analytical results on behalf of the team to senior leadership.
• Is comfortable taking calculated risks.
• Manages stakeholders through project execution.

Qualifications

Education and Experience Required:

• University/Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Engineering or Equivalent with 8+ years of work experience or Master’s/PHD in Science, Engineering or Equivalent with 5+ years of work experience
• Experience in drug development in the pharmaceutical industry or in biotech required.

This position may require up to 15% domestic or international travel

This position has an expected base pay range of $128K - $192K USD

The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.
