Janssen Research & Development, LLC., is recruiting for a Strategic Account Lead to be remote in the United States.
The Strategic Account Lead uncovers new opportunities and together with strategic sites identifies novel ways to work & mutually beneficial clinical research solutions.
This role contributes into GCO and U.S. country-specific goals while optimizing clinical trial delivery creating a strong level of commitment between Janssen and Strategic Sites. Leading and managing engagement and bi-directional communications between key stakeholders from internal Janssen and external partners are basic deliverables.
The Strategic Account Lead delivers research solutions through focused relationships and operational excellence applied to Strategic Sites.
Principal Responsibilities:
Strategy Development
- Provides input to the company strategy for Site & Investigator Engagement in collaboration and partnership within the Global Development Organization.
- Analyzes and applies data to assess opportunities and priorities, including internal priorities, entity priorities, relevant marketplace trends and the competitive landscape.
- Understands local clinical trial market dynamics and links when appropriate to the Janssen commercial priorities.
- Contributes to GCO goals and objectives at the country level.
- Contributes to identifying potential Strategic Partner collaboration models in partnership with Janssen internal Stakeholders.
- Utilizes foundational clinical and market expertise in various therapeutic areas and is viewed as a value-added resource to the Strategic Partners.
External Engagement
- Connects at a Janssen R&D portfolio and program level with Strategic Partners.
- Initiates, develops and maintains relationships with Strategic Partners. Strategically maps influencers and high value stakeholders, effectively positioning the Janssen R&D portfolio and programs.
- Develops annual plan of action to include key stakeholders, key goals & objectives, strategies and tactics and records specific activities and results against identified objectives.
- Integrates and prioritizes Janssen R&D strategies and projects including relevant objectives and milestones to optimize Strategic Partner engagement and clinical trial delivery outcomes.
- Leverages direct engagement to drive maximum impact and optimal operational excellence.
Internal Engagement
- Contributes to strategies and priorities with relevant internal groups including Global Clinical Operations, Therapeutic Areas, Portfolio Delivery Operations, Portfolio & Patient Solutions, Contracting and Compliance Services CCS and Medical Affairs.
- Provides insights and feedback to extended internal teams to share perceptions and perspectives on Janssen R&D clinical trial delivery.
- Contributes to the adaptation of Janssen clinical operations processes to enhance Strategic Partner experience and optimized clinical trial delivery
- Effectively communicates Strategic Partner objectives across all internal stakeholders.
- Shares relevant lessons learned and best practices.
- Leverages direct customer interactions to drive maximum impact.
Principal Relationships:
The Strategic Account Lead, reports up through their respective Global Clinical Operations Country Director. Additional internal relationships include, but are not limited to, Therapeutic Areas, Portfolio Delivery Operations, Clinical Insights & Experience, Medical Affairs, and Contracting and Compliance Services.
Primary external interfaces include, but are not limited to, Clinical Operations Leadership, Points of Contact (POC), Principal Investigators and additional personnel within Strategic Partner Entities. Additional external interfaces may include other key personnel Industry Trade Group representatives and Key Opinion Leaders (within their roles as operations leaders at their respective organizations).
Qualifications
Education:
- A Bachelor's Degree is required, a Masters Degree is preferred
Experience and Skills:
Required:
- A minimum of 5 years experience of either relevant clinical operations, customer management, medical affairs or TA-specific sales experience is required
- Oncology experience is required
- Experience working in a matrix team environment. Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams or initiatives without authority is required
- Ability to understand and communicate market trends in healthcare related to the impact on the clinical trial delivery landscape across therapeutic areas is required
- Skills to develop and maintain long-term advocacy with external stakeholders is required
- Ability to develop and maintain productive internal relationships is required
- Strong strategic thinking, problem solving, influencing and negotiation skills is required
- Ability to drive innovation and solve problems in an ambiguous environment is required
- Self-directed; able to work with limited supervision, and contribute to team objectives is required
- Proactive learner, seeks new information and appropriately assimilates into daily job responsibilities is required
- Excellent written and oral communication skills; fluency in English language is required
- Up to 50% travel is required
Preferred:
- Experience working with external entities or 3rd parties including knowledge of contracts, relationship management, and oversight of deliverables is preferred
- Knowledge of and experience in customer/stakeholder management is preferred
- Knowledgeable about clinical development and clinical operations is preferred
