Janssen Research & Development, L.L.C., a division of Johnson & Johnson's Family of Companies is recruiting for a Data Scientist, Cell Engineering located in Spring House, PA.
The Cell Engineering & Analytical Sciences group within biologics development is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Scientist to join our research and development team. You will play a crucial role in understanding cellular pathways and networks for optimizing recombinant protein production in engineered cell lines, using data-driven systems biology approaches based on multi-omics data. We are a groundbreaking cell engineering, biochemistry and mass spectrometry team, equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure including mass spectrometry instruments from multiple vendors, robotic workbenches for automation and powerful bioinformatic software and cloud computing resources for data interpretation. You will work in an exciting, interdisciplinary environment and collaborate with multi-functional teams, including cell line development and cell culture process development. Your expertise in data analysis techniques will help drive the advancement of our biopharmaceutical pipeline.

The position will offer close interactions with specialists from different fields of cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry and mass spectrometry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement multi-omics data analysis and visualization strategies to support CHO cell production system of complex biotherapeutic modalities. With the aim of optimizing protein expression levels, product quality, and post translational modification patterns.
- Use biostatistics and bioinformatics algorithms to analyze multi-omics data including genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics and metabolomics for new hypothesis generation.
- Set up data system to enable and support departmental digital transformation including cell line development and analytical data tracking and integration.
- Integrate multiple levels of biological information, apply AI/ML to gain process insight and drive cell engineering projects forward.
- Prepare and present scientific findings and recommendations to internal stakeholders, project teams, and senior management.
- Stay up to date with the latest advancements in multi-omics data analysis and AI/ML trend, develop new methods and publish in peer reviewed journals.
Qualifications
· Master’s degree with 2-3+ years experience, OR Ph.D. in life sciences or a related field with 0-3 years of experience.
· Strong background and hands-on experience in multi-omics, including genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics data analysis is required.
· Knowledge of machine learning and artificial intelligence and their application on multi-omics and other data analysis is required.
· Proficiency in at least one programming language is required. (Examples may include; Python, R, C#, Javascript, SQL.)
· Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment is required.
· Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail are required.
· Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to effectively present scientific findings and recommendations are required.
· Data visualization skills with Tableau, Spotfire or similar applications is preferred.
· Experience with cellular metabolism modeling with genome scale models (GSMs) is strongly preferred.
· Prior experience in the biopharmaceutical industry or related fields is preferred.
· Solid understanding of cell biology and recombinant protein expression is preferred.
· Familiarity with cell culture techniques and genetic engineering tools for cell line development is preferred.
· Experience in automation is preferred.
· This position requires full time hours located on-site in Spring House, PA, and may required approximately 10% travel.
