Job Description

Janssen is committed to raising the bar on patient experience (Px). The Patient Engagement and Customer Solutions (PECS) organization is focused on creating more personalized, seamless, and supportive experiences for patients starting treatments across the Janssen portfolio.

The Senior Director, Supplier Management and Operations Excellence (SMOx) is responsible for Patient Support Program excellence in the execution of Janssen NA patient engagement strategies. You will lead a team responsible for strengthening a network of supplier partners with the strategy, capabilities, culture, and scale to support improving the impact of patient experience across the Janssen NA portfolio. You will also lead the creation and execution of program standards and process excellence spanning concept design, RFPs, supplier selection, contracting, audits, and performance monitoring. In this role, you must build and maintain strong working relationships with Marketing, Patient Experience, Payer Access Teams, Sales, IT, CS&O, Procurement, Legal, Finance, Healthcare Compliance, Training, Policy & Advocacy.

Every patient’s healthcare experience is unique – shaped by personal experiences and beliefs, the presence or absence of support networks, provider and payer dynamics, and socioeconomic factors. For many patients, the decision to start or stop a treatment is overwhelming. Janssen recognizes this, and wants to create an experience that is personalized, helpful, and hopeful.

The Senior Director, Supplier Management & Operations Excellence leads a team responsible for network strategy, operational standards and strong compliance that aids in building industry-leading patient support.

  • People Development: Coach, develop and motivate direct reports and broader organizational talent
  • Strategic Planning: Optimize and lead the Janssen NA Pharm holistic sourcing strategy for all Px services across all brands and capability needs.
  • Strategic Partner Identification: Identify preferred partners to support Janssen’s desired Px through market scanning, capabilities and culture reviews, performance audits.
  • Partner Selection & Development: Support RFP process and partner selection by identifying & developing preferred partners that can deliver on current & future program requirements defined by Px strategy and patient services operations teams. Drive for technology and analog improvements, innovation, and influence of strategic partners capability roadmaps.
  • Partnership Management: Put in place formal governances, goals & objectives and communication channels for Px suppliers and partners. Provide alliance related guidance to supplier and internal teams to aid improved partnership behaviors, performance & growth.
  • Governance & Performance Management: Partner with the PECS leadership team, procurement, compliance & quality to develop contractual KPIs that align to brand Px objectives and support performance management. Create standards and analytics engine to drive operational excellence, impact, and scale across portfolio.
  • Program Build: Support innovative & effective contracting and program development with partner suppliers and internal approval teams; Lead the development of program & portfolio compliance oversight of all suppliers.
  • Proof of Performance: Manage process and documentation for proof of performance for services delivered by PECS supplier partners.
  • Compliance & Monitoring: Develop & execute supplier program oversight & monitoring approach with input from supplier partners, PECS leadership team, procurement, compliance & quality.
  • Training & Development: Recommend internal and supplier training needs to Px Excellence team based on outcomes of compliance and monitoring, voice of key stakeholders.

Qualifications

· A minimum of 10 years of healthcare business experience (EX: customer service, sales, marketing, supplier management, procurement, payer/access experience, operations, supply chain, analytics) is required, of which 5 years demonstrate customer service or operations experience.

· A minimum of 5 years of proven performance in leading teams of 10+

· Experience in developing, maintaining and influencing strategic supplier relationships

· Successful track record of developing talent and leader of leaders

· Experience in at least one of the areas below is required (a mix of experiences across several of these domains is preferred):

o Services and/or customer experience marketing

o Strategy development

o Operations strategy & management

o Working across a matrixed organization

o Capabilities building

o Change management

o P&L management

· Communication. Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to manage conflict and defuse difficult situations.

· Relationship building. Excellent interpersonal skills with a demonstrated track record for forging strong, productive relationships with a diverse array of customers and colleagues.

· Collaboration. Effectively work in a team environment that will require you to coordinate activities and build partnerships across multiple internal/external organizations.

· Resourcefulness. Skilled in using personal knowledge and any other available resources to resolve problems for customers and ensure their satisfaction.

· Accountability. Eager to set ambitious goals and take ownership for results. Proactive defining actions and following through.

· Flexibility. Can dynamically adjust priorities due to changing circumstances. An agile learner who is comfortable operating in complex environments.

· Travel. This position is based in Horsham, PA or Titusville, NJ and requires up to 30% domestic travel.

The target salary for this position is $160,000-$276,000.
