An apprenticeship is designed to integrate academic study with related on-the-job experience. This job is temporary in nature. There is no commitment for full time employment after the completion of program; however, internship and Co-Op programs should primarily be utilized as a strategic feeder to full-time recruitment efforts. Apprenticeships are common in functions such as: IT, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, General Management, or General Administration.
Process Excellence co-ops will support the Process Excellence department meet is objectives in line with overall plant and company OGSM’s (Objectives, Goals, Strategies and Metrics).
SECTION 2: DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES*

Supporting Master Black Belt, Industrial Engineers and Process Excellence Manager

Aiding setup and participating in Lean Training
-
Implementing and supporting plant kanbans
-
Improving plant visuals
-
Updating process flows
-
Updating Value stream maps
-
Implementing and improving visual metrics in the building
-
Performing work studies
-
Identifying and reducing waste
-
Process Improvement support (Kaizens)
-
Aiding in plant preparation for site visitors
-
Aiding in preparation for Awards ceremonies
-
Supporting Plant betterment suggestion scheme
-
Supporting supplier projects
-
Supporting Lean Maturity Assessments
-
Provide updates to SOPs, drawings, etc. following appropriate change control.

Support additional facilities soft services (Security, general building & safety improvements)

Executes projects that increase process efficiencies, reduce cycle time, cost, and improve overall quality of execution within assigned department using project management methodologies (I.E. FPX).

Makes significant improvements in the assigned areas by using process excellence methodologies (Lean/Six Sigma).

May assist in creating concepts and designs/approaches for new products/processes/test methods.

Prepares standard reports/documentation to communicate results.

Comply with all environmental, safety and occupational health policies (i.e., ISO14001 & OSHAS 18001).

Responsible for communicating business related issues or opportunities to next management level

For those who supervise or manage a staff, responsible for ensuring that subordinates follow all Company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices and that all resources needed to do so are available and in good condition, if applicable
Qualifications

Proficiency in the use of MS Office applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint; Visio and Minitab knowledge is highly desirable.

Ability to assess issues and opportunities, establish priorities, and act with a sense of urgency.

Ability to use Igrafix an advantage
