National Field Sales Director- Surgical Vision
Reporting to the Vice President, Sales & Marketing, U.S. Vision Surgical, the National Field Sales Director will lead the growth and development of the Vision Surgical business for the U.S. market. This person will partner with peers and leaders from other functions to develop and implement the strategy for successful and sustainable growth. They will represent J&J Vision Surgical business to all internal and external partners and find opportunities to achieve all business goals and objectives including, but not limited to the financial targets each year.
As the key champion for the product portfolio in the U.S., the Sales Leader will actively collaborate with the Regional Business Directors Leaders to assess and build local business plans, targeting an overall market strategy relative to Surgical Vision, ensuring that financial targets are achieved.
Key Responsibilities and Focus:
- Partner with leadership in the local implementation of all strategies and initiatives.
- Coach and manage the performance and proficiency development of team. Lead and develop Regional Business Directors to ensure they coach and manage the performance of field direct reports
- Responsible for leadership development of employees, the culture of the sales team, and ensuring the sales organization operates an ethical, diverse and inclusive environment.
- Serve as the U.S. Vision Surgical lead and liaison on the broader strategy to other functions including but not limited to Business Development, Global Education, Marketing (Global and Regional), Commercial Operations, Finance and R&D.
- Lead the Sales organization for the US
- Serve as the Vision Surgical subject matter expert in the Ophthalmology industry to represent the business within J&J and externally to customers and industry events where applicable
- Partner with Surgical Leadership Team to identify growth opportunities, new business development, headcount placement and product launches
- Advise Vice President, Surgical Sales & Marketing of trends, challenges and opportunities that apply to the broader Vision strategy
- Establish and build rapport with key surgeons and clinicians
- Achieve Business Plan Objectives and sales goals/quotas through accurate use of approved resources
- Complete required administrative and other duties as assigned accurately and promptly
The Leader is encouraged to learn, know, and follow all laws, regulations, policies, and procedures relative to the position and as stated in the policy and procedure manuals. The Leader consistently maintains the highest levels of integrity, ethics, and compliance at all times. Promptly communicate all legal/ethical questions or concerns to supervisor or to the Health Care Compliance and/or Legal Department.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in related field; MBA preferred
- Minimum 10 years of Marketing and/or Sales Leadership experience
- Minimum 10 years of direct management experience
- Minimum 10 years of direct selling experience
- Previous mergers & acquisition experience preferred
- Previous experience partnering with various functions including but not limited to Marketing (Global and Regional), R&D, Business Development and/or Supply Chain to deliver on business strategy
- Previous experience presenting and influencing executives around business decisions
- Demonstrated experience in developing strategy and execution of plan
- Proven track record working across a matrix model, communicate timely and appropriately, and operate as a critical member of the leadership team.
- Demonstrated strong analytical and technical acumen
- Experience partnering and influencing peers around execution of strategy and priorities
- Must have an established track record of building a positive culture, a high-performance team, and talent and performance management.
- Ability to work independently and autonomously
- Position can be located anywhere in the US
- Travel approximately 50% (U.S.)
