Position Summary:
Our growing Plasmid DNA Site in Texas is seeking to hire a Director of Program Management, and this position requires strong technical acumen, operational oversight, and client-facing communication skills to drive complex programs involving plasmid DNA and fermentation manufacturing.
The Director will hire and manage a small team of program managers, ensure alignment across internal functions, and help build scalable systems and processes that enable predictable, high-quality delivery in a fast-paced, growing organization.
This role is accountable for ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget while maintaining accurate financial oversight. The Director will manage project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and stakeholder coordination, including revenue recognition, milestone invoicing, and cost tracking to ensure financial integrity across programs. Acting as both a technical and strategic partner, the Director supports proposal development, provides expert guidance to clients, and identifies opportunities to enhance delivery efficiency and profitability. Strong analytical, financial, and organizational skills are essential. This position reports to the General Manager and Senior Vice President.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of client programs across Process & Analytical development, MSAT and GMP manufacturing.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients: driving communication, transparency, and trust throughout the program lifecycle.
- Partner with Business Development, Development, Manufacturing, and Quality to translate client scope into executable project plans.
- Oversee project schedules, budgets, and deliverables; proactively identify risks and lead mitigation efforts to maintain timelines and profitability.
- Support the development of program management tools, templates, and governance systems to ensure consistency and scalability across the organization
- Organizing, attending, and participating in stakeholder and client meetings regularly.
- Assures the accurate transfer of contracts from proposal through project completion.
- Communicate and collaborate cross-departmentally with directors, supervisors, and scientists to ensure alignment, as well as, to support company objectives and milestones. Build and maintain positive client relationships.
- Documenting and following up on important actions and decisions from client meetings.
- Mentor and develop program managers to strengthen execution capability and client service mindset.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and organizational growth planning within the PM and technical operations functions.
- Assess project risks and issues and provide solutions where applicable.
- Ensure stakeholder views are managed towards the best solution.
- Chair and facilitate meetings where appropriate and distribute minutes to all project team members.
- Oversee the hiring, onboarding, and offboarding of employees with the appropriate approval to maximize resource utilization and profitability
- Ensures all direct reports receive training, mentorship, and supervision to ensure high employee engagement
- Provide general supervisory duties for direct reports, including annual reviews, monthly coaching sessions, performance plans, and career planning
