Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Engineering Manager to join our fast-growing software start-up. As a Senior Engineering Manager, you will play a crucial role in leading and managing our talented team of software engineers to deliver high-quality software products that meet the needs of our customers. Responsibilities:
Lead and manage a team of software engineers, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to foster a collaborative and high-performing environment.
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, design, and QA, to align engineering goals with overall business objectives.
Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to define project requirements, scope, and timelines.
Develop and execute project plans, ensuring successful delivery of software products on time and within budget.
Foster a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and best practices within the engineering team.
Drive the adoption and implementation of cloud computing best practices, including DevOps, infrastructure as code, automation, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD).
Architect, design, and develop microservices-based applications that are scalable, resilient, and high-performing.
Develop responsive and intuitive user interfaces using modern frontend frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.js and backend services using Java, Go, or Python.
Design, optimize, and manage databases (SQL, NoSQL) to support microservices architecture and ensure data integrity and efficiency. Implement RESTful APIs and integrate third-party services as necessary to support application functionality.
Monitor and analyse cloud infrastructure performance, capacity, and costs, proactively identifying opportunities for optimization and improvement, and implement security and compliance requirements.
Recruit, hire, and onboard top engineering talent, while nurturing a diverse and inclusive team culture.
Work closely with teams across geographies, both in requirements collection and feature development
Requirements & Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
12+ years of Software Development/Engineering experience
3+years of Engineering Management experience
Strong hands-on backend experience, software engineering principles and practices, with a focus on microservices architecture.
Basic familiarity with frontend technologies such as React, Angular, or Vue.js. , expertise in backend development using languages such as Node.js, Python, Go, or Java, database technologies including SQL and NoSQL databases, and RESTful APIs.
Strong technical background in cloud computing, with hands-on experience in designing, deploying, and managing cloud infrastructure using platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation, and configuration management tools like Ansible or Chef and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and orchestration frameworks.
Understanding of security best practices and techniques for securing microservices-based applications.
Excellent knowledge of the project lifecycle, and Agile / DevOps software engineering models, an Agile & DevOps evangelist who can help mature the organization and proficiency in version control systems (e.g., Git)
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex issues in distributed systems.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
