The Senior Automation Project Engineer is a technical-strategic, high-impact, Cluster role, powering the key element of the Execution Systems group – Project & Operations Delivery . You bind our group internally , from a Projects (lifecycle, multidiscipline, emerging technologies) and service level completeness perspective, open it to technological advancement and integrate it externally at an enterprise level.

Our future colleague will become a member the Make Asset Management (MAM) Group, SM API Group. As a successful candidate, you bring automation expertise , helping to provide, as Domain Specialist in Execution Systems, project leadership and sophisticated automation solution designs for complex production and processing problems and opportunities.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform to high standards and act as a role model for all MAM colleagues.
  • Lead the execution of ES projects and content to achieve business goals and realize value.
  • Implement, support and maintain the ISA-95 Level 2 systems, by applying Execution Systems standards: transfer knowledge to the users and Maintenance teams.
  • Develop of business and functional strategies and capabilities related to Execution Systems; build system and delivery roadmaps.
  • Partner with colleagues from Operations, Logistics, Safety, Facilities, or Quality in the identification of business opportunities or needs.
  • Ensure that computerized systems are fit for the intended use and aligned with applicable laws throughout the entire system life cycle.
  • Own timely delivery of project work and documentation; develop, maintain & control Project budgets and Capital Requirement Plans.
  • Lead cost-benefit and priority determination of Execution Systems projects and initiatives.
  • Ensure that ES documentation is managed, controlled, approved and reviewed in accordance with site procedures to meet business needs and production schedules.
  • Act as Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for external ES partners and Service Level Agreements (SLA).

Improve coordinative capabilities:

  • Enhance your proven record in capital projects, organizational change and engineering in chemical manufacturing, including design, construction, commissioning and qualification, project hand-over and start-up.
  • Optimally deliver smaller regional projects and work on larger global programs under minimum supervision, take ownership and maintain both the oversight and zooming into detail as required.
  • Independently plan and prioritize work to ensure completion of multiple projects running in parallel.
  • Be proficient in partnering with external contract companies.
  • Support in defining team, project/program goals and tactics, and build a direct overview on business and capital impacts.

In a coordinative and collaborative role, we may invite our new colleague to support additional (ad-hoc) automation responsibilities:

  • Support our Automation Network (Level 2 Shared Service - L2SS), Process Analytical Tools (PAT), Data Integrity (DI), or cybersecurity.
  • Study, adopt and build traction for efficient emerging technologies (e.g. Industrial Internet of Things - IIOT, Edge Computing, ES Digital Twins) and improve approaches to how we operate (challenge the status quo and drive improvement).

Qualifications

Qualifications :

  • Bachelors Degree in industrial automation, information technology or similar engineering subject area required.
  • 6+ years of practical and industrial related experience required.
  • Deploy Control Systems expertise: infrastructure, design (Hardware / Software), with an advantage for life sciences expertise required.
  • Operational Excellence/ Lean Six Sigma qualification or competency in leading, training and/or implementing root cause analysis and effective investigation practices required.
  • Track record of effective automation leadership in a multi-national organization required.
  • Expereince in advanced automated manufacturing operations with integrated sophisticated processes required.
  • Knowledge of Automation Engineering processes including PAS, BAS, Allen Bradley, Siemens PLC platform - PCS7, DeltaV Distributed Control System, PI Historian, PLC/SCADA, Integration of CMMS, hardware and software specification, code review and control, OEM’s, System Integration, own designated Servers, Vendor Management, record and data management, and budget management required.
  • GMP and Validation knowledge in a regulated manufacturing environment required.
  • Knowledge in OSI-PI/historians and PI Asset Framework required.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in both spoken and written English required, while Dutch represents an advantage.
  • Bring and build knowhow around these technologies: automation networks, PAT, DI, cybersecurity, emerging technologies (IIOT, Edge, Digital Twins) required.
  • Six Sigma/Lean, PMP/FPX, MAMC: share any of these certifications as an preferred.

 

OTHER :

·       This role may require up to 10% of domestic travel. 

·       On Call rotation support
