Janssen Pharmaceutical Company/Johnson & Johnson/ Taris integration is recruiting for a 6-month co-op position in Oncology Research, located in Lexington, MA.

Janssen works to build a world without disease and transform lives by finding new and better ways to prevent, intercept, treat and cure diseases. We are seeking a highly motivated and talented co-op student to join our team. The Co-op will work in an oncology research and development department specifically focused on drug-device convergence products for the treatment of bladder cancer. This department handles all aspects of product design and development from concept through scale-up to manufacturing for both formulation and device design.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and prototype drug-device combination and associated delivery system products
  • Perform analytical methods (such as HPLC analysis) to characterize the chemical, physical, mechanical, and functional performance of products
  • Use MATLAB, R or Python to analyze, and validate large datasets to ensure data quality and reliability.
  • Utilize data visualization tools to create insightful and informative visual representations of complex data sets.
  • Develop and implement machine learning algorithms for image processing
  • Conduct lab-scale experiments to support formulation, device, and combination product development
  • Maintain laboratory notebook and prepare technical reports and presentations
  • Support nonclinical and clinical activities through hands-on manufacture and characterization of investigational product

Qualifications

Education:

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited College/University, pursuing an undergraduate degree in a relevant technical field (computer science, chemical engineering, or related field)
  • Sophomore, Junior, or Senior grade level (graduation date must extend past the co-op program end date)

Experience and Skills:

Required:

  • Strong academic performance (minimum GPA of 2.8)
  • Intellectual curiosity, attention to detail and a collaborative work approach
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or MATLAB.
  • Basic wet chemistry skills (preparing standards, mobile phases, sample dilutions, etc.)
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Positive, independent, and contagious work ethic
  • Able to work permanently in the US and must not require sponsorship for employment visa status now or in the future
  • Able to work full-time (40 hrs/week) with reliable transportation to and from work

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with image processing techniques and tools is a plus.
  • Previous pharmaceutical and/or device industry experience
