Position: Senior Supervisor – Maintenance 

Reporting to: Senior Engineering Manager

Location: Leiden, Netherlands

Role Summary

The Senior Supervisor – Maintenance will provide technical leadership and expertise to drive continuous improvement in process and asset reliability through the detection and elimination of defects, also will focus on the planning of the repair and maintenance of Mentor equipment, machinery or instruments. In this role they will optimize the availability and productivity of our manufacturing facilities and equipment, perform engineering reviews, coordinate repair work and participate in the commissioning and installation of new equipment and provide guidance to a team that provides technical knowledge to deliver the optimization of equipment maintenance and technical aspects of reliability engineering strategies.

Under the direction of the Sr. Engineering Manager, the supervisor plans and directs the maintenance operations in Mentor Leiden Company. Conducts studies for the maintenance of production and utilities equipment, electrical systems and components and other related activities in the plant. This includes all people leader activities, support on project executions, challenging the team by technical solution and validations, standardize the way of working within the team and creation a good atmosphere within the team. Role interfaces directly with other Mentor functional groups to ensure that goals/objectives are met within GMP/ISO compliance and product design changes are addressed appropriately.

 

The responsibilities & the impact YOU will have:

General Duties:

·         Represents the maintenance department within the site and the engineering community.

·         Communicate on all levels on daily work and business updates.

·         Responsible for communicating business related issues or opportunities to higher management level.

·         Represent the Maintenance, validation, and calibration within the Quality management system.

·         Manage maintenance and spare parts budget.

 

Technical Duties:

·         Responsible for the daily management of the activities of the Maintenance Department. Anticipates maintenance problems associated with installation of manufacturing equipment and other utility equipment.

·         Identify Continuous improvement opportunities within the Maintenance scope.

·         Develop and Follow performance metrics (KPIS) and initiate appropriate actions.

·         Lead technical investigations as required for specific projects/tasks.

·         Implementation of CMMS (eCMMS) system, develop a stronger maintenance procedure, leveraging form the group.

·         To keep CMMS up to date. implement analysis tool for the identification of critical spares.

·         To supervise the management of the spare parts warehouse

·         Partner with the manufacturing engineers to ensure the correct level of maintenance/servicing for all the processes.

·         To participate in the implementation of maintenance and calibration plans in cooperation with calibration and validation team.

·         Manage Improvement projects in maintenance.

People duties:

·         Managing, coaching, and developing maintenance technicians through regular follow ups on uniform implementation of activities with the aim of good cooperation and efficiency of the maintenance organization.

·         Accountable for appropriate improvement within the maintenance organization

·         Develops department goals and objectives and conduct performance reviews to the team.

·         Reviews with subordinates planned objectives, status of programs and projects, problems and conclusions concerning assigned operations.

·         Develops and implements preventive maintenance and instrument calibration programs and ensures programs are effective.

·         Prepares and implements career development programs for subordinates.

 

Safety and Quality duties:

·         Follow compliance and EHS policies and guidelines.

·         Initiate, maintain and closure of NCRs, CAPAS, audit observations, ergonomics, and safety related action items.                                                                                                                                                         

·         Ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with appropriate internal and external Health, Safety & Environment procedures and safe working conditions and practices and supporting documents are in place. Observe all regulatory requirements (GMP's, ISO, FDA, internal policies) applicable to their area of responsibility.

·         Review and evaluates overall effectiveness of maintenance programs and process operations.

·         Responsible for ensuring personal and Company compliance with all Federal, State, local and Company regulations, policies, and procedures.

Qualifications

We would love to hear from YOU, if you have the following requirements:

·         Bachelor’s degree in maintenance engineering and or in Mechanical/ Electrical Engineering.

·         Good communication skills, verbal as well as written.

·         Maintenance Experience with 6-10 years of leading technical departments preferably in GMP environment

·         Experience in Maintenance, Calibration or Manufacturing and/or Engineering working on manufacturing processes and improvements.

·         Understanding of process variability and process control

·         Lean and/or Six Sigma would be a plus.                 

·         Strong time and budget management skills

·         Proficiency with Microsoft Office and a working knowledge of statistical software is required. 

·         eCMMS experience

·         Excellent communication skills: making complex issues easy for others to understand and the ability to prepare communications for team and project documentation. Ability to communicate across multiple levels in the organization.

·         Demonstrated proficiency in regulatory compliance.                       

·         Ability to work in a team environment.                 

·         Good coaching skills

·         Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from business leader and challenge them, customers, and other employees of the organization.
