About the Role
- Organize the development and updating of the company's reliability strategy, including setting reliability targets, selecting reliability testing and evaluation methods, and developing reliability improvement plans.
- Establish reliability design standards and reliability testing standards for key components.
- Ensure the execution and completion of reliability planning for the lifecycle of key structural components.
- Participate in reliability‑related R&D activities for key structural parts (injection‑molded housings, vehicle bodies, etc.), including design, design reviews, and reliability process setup.
- Conduct reliability research and analysis on new technologies, new materials, and new manufacturing processes.
- Develop corresponding reliability design standards and reliability testing standards for key components.
- Guide the execution of reliability engineering, including product or system reliability testing, failure simulation and failure analysis, and reliability assessment, to ensure reliability targets are met.
- Cross‑functional collaboration and process optimization: work with design, validation, and supply chain teams to embed reliability requirements into the new product development process.
- Customer and quality management: handle customer reliability complaints, perform root‑cause analysis using the 8D methodology, and implement corrective actions.
- Lead customer audits, prepare documentation, follow up on nonconformity corrections, and maintain compliance with ISO 9001/ISO 17025 systems.
- Organize and deliver reliability training to improve employees' reliability awareness and skills, and promote a strong reliability culture within the company.
About You
- Bachelor’s degree or above in materials science, mechanical engineering, or related fields.
- More than 8 years of experience in structural component development; familiar with relevant industry standards and able to apply them effectively.
- Proficient in reliability engineering theory, reliability design methods and tools, reliability data analysis methods, and commonly used analytical tools.
- Strong system‑level design thinking and process awareness; able to propose practical solutions or constructive suggestions when dealing with complex problems.
- Able to establish industry‑leading reliability design, testing, and validation standards.
- Strong problem‑solving ability and innovative thinking; capable of addressing complex reliability challenges.
- Strong cross‑disciplinary communication and cross‑department collaboration skills; proactive, meticulous, and with high professional integrity.
- Experience in building and certifying quality systems; familiar with DOE, FMEA, Six Sigma, 8D, and statistical tools such as JMP; familiar with the five core tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC).

At Caper, the total compensation consists of base salary and equity in the form of RSUs (Restricted Stock Units). The job description shows only the base salary component, but we will additionally offer additional stock rewards from our parent company, Instacart. As a publicly traded company in the U.S., Instacart's stock can be directly traded on the market and holds potential for appreciation.
Caper has our own salary philosophy. The final salary of an offer will have a direct connection with the candidate's experience and skill level presented during the interview.
