Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Procurement leader to oversee sourcing and purchasing activities for a GMP Biotech CDMO. This role will ensure uninterrupted supply of raw materials, consumables and services critical to manufacturing and process development. The ideal candidate would combine a deep knowledge of GMP procurement practices with strategic sourcing expertise and strong supplier relationship management skills.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversight of all procurement and purchasing activities for Bionova across our sites in California and Texas; which includes procurement of direct and indirect materials and services.
- Partners with Operations and Program Management Teams to plan and procure materials needed to support all Operations, Process Development through GMP Manufacturing.
- Create and implement inventory stocking strategies to support production requirements.
- Uses ERP system (QAD) and other analytical tools to plan, manage, track inventory levels and inventory flows throughout the organization ensuring product/materials availability and quality.
- Drive the implementation of MRP.
- Manages team to ensure timely and accurate procurement of materials to support site
- Develop and Manage vendor and supplier relations for Pricing, purchase order deliveries, invoicing, complaints, non-conforming material and Service Agreements.
- Manages the vendor assessment program, files complaints and leads investigations for incoming, non-conforming raw materials.
- Oversees Purchase Order process ensuring consistent use of procedures across sites in California and Texas.
- Establish and manage Procurement KPIs.
Working Conditions:
This position is required to work in an office setting. The role requires walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, and crouching. The employee must occasionally lift and or move up to 20 pounds independently.
Qualifications:
- 7+ plus years related experience in a GMP Pharmaceutical or Biotech manufacturing environment preferred.
- 3+ years people and/or project management experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in related field required or equivalent experience.
- Exhibits strong judgment to plan, prioritize and organize a diversified workload.
- Ability to deal with ambiguity and new requirements and develop action plans from them.
- Ability to anticipate and plan for needs of Manufacturing, Process Development, Quality Control and other departments.
- Strong attention to detail and applies consistent, effective follow-up skills on multiple projects.
- Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills to work with all levels of employees and to effectively manage vendor relations.
- Strong computer skills and proficient in the use of Excel and ERP systems (especially QAD).
- Demonstrated ability to analyze a high level of detail and make educated decisions with limited data.
- Capacity to define and communicate planning and procurement challenges and provide guidance to top management in developing and implementing positive and proactive solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to interact productively and to effectively influence peers, external colleagues and senior management.
- Capability to interact with diplomacy and tact while maintaining appropriate assertiveness and persistence.
- Must be detail oriented, well organized and able to work independently and in teams.
Compensation Range: The base compensation range for this role is between $115,000 and $135,000. However, the actual compensation may vary depending on your experience and qualifications.
