As a Data Systems Engineer (Test Software) at Impulse, you will play a critical role in designing, planning, and creating software tools to help engineers more effectively access and work with data. This role is responsible for the distribution of test data after the point of acquisition - ingestion or streaming, warehousing, analysis, and piping out to other consumers of data. You’ll work closely with our 3rd party partners for software tools, as well as with our Engineering teams across the company internally: Vehicle, GNC, Propulsion, etc.

Responsibilities
- Create and drive forward a roadmap for workflows around test data, better visualization tools, and data processing/analysis tools, encompassing both internal and 3rd party tools.
- Champion uniting data toolsets and workflows across the company. Meet with users across the company to understand their data needs, create common toolsets to work with the data, and document and train others on how to use them.
- Assist with making other scripts, tools, and libraries to help support the rest of the Test Automation team (and the Assembly, Integration, and Test team at large), and make their operations more efficient, organized and streamlined for fast operation, from computer setup, to meta-programming, to workflows.
- Assist with support for automating test setups alongside the Test Automation team to deepen your knowledge of the needs of test at Impulse.
- Review code written by others, and invite code reviews for your work.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related field
- 3+ years of experience with Python.
- Demonstrated ability of taking project ownership and working well cross-functionally
- Strong data reduction and analysis skills in any programming language.
- Experience with git, and git workflows.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Clear communicator with solid technical documentation skills.
- Experience at fast paced, scrappy startup environments.
- Experience with project management.
- Experience in the Aerospace Industry, specifically working with Propulsion Development and/or GNC teams.
- Experience with MATLAB, C, C++, Rust, R or other programming languages.
- Experience working in hardware production test, and/or development test.
- Familiarity with MES systems, Procedure Management systems, GitLab CI/CD, and/or JIRA Integrations.
Additional Information:
Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity. In addition to base salary, for full-time hires, you may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of stock options, and access to medical, vision & dental coverage as well as access to a 401(k) retirement plan.
