As an Avionics Test Technician, you will perform electrical, thermal, and functional testing of spacecraft avionics hardware to verify performance and identify issues. You will work closely with engineering and production teams to ensure accurate test execution and high-quality, flight-ready hardware.

Responsibilities

  • Perform functional and verification testing of avionics hardware and subassemblies at the board level in accordance with engineering procedures/requirements.
  • Execute electrical testing using multimeters, power supplies, oscilloscopes, and data acquisition systems to validate performance and identify faults
  • Set up, operate, and monitor test fixtures, harnesses, and instrumentation to support avionics hardware testing.
  • Follow controlled test procedures, work instructions, and test plans with strict adherence to configuration and revision control.
  • Identify and document test anomalies, failures, or out-of-family behavior, and escalate findings to engineering as needed.
  • Verify proper installation, calibration, and operation of sensors and measurement devices prior to test execution.
  • Collect, review, and validate test data, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and traceability to the tested avionics hardware.
  • Support debug and re-test activities following hardware modifications or corrective actions.
  • Assist in the development, refinement, and validation of test procedures and test setups in collaboration with engineering.
  • Maintain test logs, configuration records, and test reports in accordance with quality and program requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Proficiency in electrostatic discharge (ESD) safety protocols is a hard requirement.
  • 2-5 years of hands-on experience performing electrical and thermal testing at the board or subassembly level.
  • Experience executing tests from written procedures, work instructions, or test plans in a controlled environment.
  • Working knowledge of electrical test equipment, including multimeters, power supplies, oscilloscopes, and data acquisition systems.
  • Familiarity with instrumentation and sensors, such as RTDs, thermocouples, or similar measurement devices.
  • Foundational understanding of electrical principles, including voltage, current, resistance, continuity, and basic signal behavior.
  • Very strong attention to detail and ability to interpret and follow engineering documentation and procedures
  • Demonstrated safety-first mindset, particularly when working with energized hardware or temperature extremes.
  • Team-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Experience testing aerospace or spaceflight avionics hardware in a high-reliability environment
  • Familiarity with RF test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, signal generators, and network analyzers.
  • Understanding of failure analysis and root-cause investigation related to electrical or sensor anomalies.
  • Prior experience supporting prototype hardware testing or early-stage development programs.
  • Prior experience in a startup or fast-paced engineering environment where adaptability and initiative are valued.
  • Passion for space exploration


Additional Information:

Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity. In addition to base salary, for full-time hires, you may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of stock options, and access to medical, vision & dental coverage as well as access to a 401(k) retirement plan.
