As an Avionics Quality Inspector at Impulse to ensure flight hardware meets the highest standards of workmanship, traceability, and reliability. This role will focus on inspection of PCB assemblies, harnessing, electronic boxes, and integrated avionics subsystems in support of spacecraft production and test operations.

Responsibilities
- Perform detailed inspection of PCB assemblies (PCBA), conformal coating, soldering, and component installation per IPC-A-610 / J-STD-001 standards
- Inspect wire harnesses and cable assemblies to IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards
- Conduct in-process and final inspections of avionics boxes and integrated flight hardware
- Verify material traceability, lot control, serialization, and documentation compliance
- Support First Article Inspection (FAI) and Receiving Inspection for electronic components
- Document nonconformances and support MRB investigations and root cause activities
- Ensure compliance with ESD handling, cleanroom, and workmanship standards
- Collaborate with test and integration teams during environmental and functional testing
Minimum Qualifications
- 3+ years of inspection experience in aerospace, defense, or high-reliability electronics manufacturing
- Strong working knowledge of IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 (certifications preferred)
- Experience inspecting PCBAs, surface mount and through-hole assemblies
- Familiarity with harness inspection per IPC/WHMA-A-620
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and BOMs
- Experience using calipers, microscopes, height gauges, and other inspection tools
- Strong documentation and ERP/MES system experience
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Experience with flight or space-rated hardware
- Familiarity with AS9100 quality systems
- Experience supporting environmental test (TVAC, vibe, EMI/EMC)
- Background in failure analysis or root cause investigations
Additional Information:
Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity. In addition to base salary, for full-time hires, you may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of stock options, and access to medical, vision & dental coverage as well as access to a 401(k) retirement plan.
