As a Build Reliability Engineer (QMS) at Impulse, you will support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of our Quality Management System (QMS) within a fast-paced aerospace manufacturing environment. This role will focus on ensuring build reliability across production processes, driving quality initiatives, and maintaining compliance with aerospace regulatory and customer requirements.

The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in manufacturing quality, root cause analysis, and QMS standards, with the ability to work cross-functionally to improve product integrity and production efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain Quality Management System (QMS) processes in alignment with aerospace standards (e.g., AS9100)
  • Drive build reliability initiatives across manufacturing, assembly, and integration processes
  • Partner with Manufacturing, Vehicle Engineering, and Supply Chain to identify and mitigate reliability risks
  • Analyze production data, nonconformances, and failure trends to improve yield and reliability
  • Develop and track key quality and reliability metrics (FPY, DPPM, defect trends, etc.)
  • Ensure proper documentation, traceability, and configuration control in accordance with QMS requirements
  • Lead internal audits and support external/customer audits
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and statistical methods
  • Support supplier quality and incoming inspection activities as needed

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in hardware manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, or high-reliability systems
  • Familiarity with AS9100, ISO 9001, or similar quality systems (practical application preferred over documentation focus)
  • Demonstrated experience supporting production builds, integration, or test of primary structures and/or complex mechanical or electromechanical systems
  • Strong problem-solving skills with demonstrated root cause analysis experience

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • 4+ years of demonstrated build reliability experience with spacecraft, launch vehicles, aviation, robotics, or defense hardware
  • GD&T familiarity preferred; ability to interpret engineering drawings and apply dimensional tolerancing principles in a manufacturing or design environment is a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience with reliability engineering concepts (FMEA, reliability growth, Weibull analysis)
  • Demonstrated background working closely with technicians and production teams
  • Demonstrated experience supporting rapid development or prototype-to-production transitions

Additional Information:

Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity. In addition to base salary, for full-time hires, you may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of stock options, and access to medical, vision & dental coverage as well as access to a 401(k) retirement plan.
