Impulse Space is seeking an Software Engineering Intern to support the Avionics Harness Design Engineering team. This role will focus on building software tools that automate design workflows, model end-to-end avionics system connectivity, and give engineers intuitive ways to trace signals, harnesses, and interface control documents across the spacecraft. The ideal candidate is comfortable working across software, electrical systems, and design engineering tools, and is excited to build reliable applications that improve the speed and quality of spacecraft development.

Responsibilities
- Develop software that automates avionics harness design processes, captures netlists of end-to-end avionics system architectures, and provides users with insightful ways to trace signals, harnesses, and ICDs across the spacecraft
- Collaborate closely with software engineers, design engineers, and IT to automate engineering and operations workflows
- Build intuitive user interfaces and reliable backend services
- Design and implement full-stack web applications using modern frameworks
- Build software tools and APIs to support mission automation, feature integration, and product bring-up
- Write robust, maintainable, and tested code that operators and engineers can rely on during critical mission phases
Minimum Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s program in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
- Experience building and shipping software projects using Python and/or JavaScript
- Ability to understand complex system interactions and communicate technical tradeoffs effectively
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Exposure to CAD, NX, or other design software
- Experience using relational or non-relational databases such as SQL, NoSQL, or PostgreSQL
- Familiarity with serverless architecture or cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure
- Interest in spacecraft avionics, harness design, electrical system architecture, or engineering workflow automation
Additional Information:
Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity. In addition to base salary, for full-time hires, you may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of stock options, and access to medical, vision & dental coverage as well as access to a 401(k) retirement plan.
Impulse Space’s spacecraft manufacturing business is subject to U.S. export regulations including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
