Kela is a secure, open platform enabling rapid and seamless integration of commercial and military systems in the service of Western defense.

Kela’s Product Design Team is responsible for shaping the experience of operators, engineers, and partners on the Kela platform. We design systems that enable rapid, secure integration of commercial and military technologies in real-world operational environments. Our goal is to ensure Kela’s platform is not only powerful but usable under pressure. You will bridge user needs, technical constraints, and operational realities, helping transform complex system capabilities into clear, actionable product experiences. The ideal candidate is equal parts designer, systems thinker, and problem solver, comfortable operating in fast-paced, high-stakes environments.

Responsibilities:

• Design end-to-end product experiences for Kela’s platform, from concept and prototyping through launch and iteration
• Translate complex operational and technical requirements into intuitive user flows, interfaces, and system interactions
• Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Engineers, Security teams, and external stakeholders to ensure designs are feasible, secure, and mission-ready
• Own product design artifacts, including user journeys, wireframes, high-fidelity UI, and interaction specifications
• Support product discovery through research, stakeholder interviews, and rapid prototyping
• Ensure consistency and scalability across the platform through design systems and shared patterns
• Identify usability risks and propose proactive design solutions for high-pressure operational contexts
• Stay current on product design, defense-tech UX, and complex system interface trends to inform future platform evolution.

• 2+ years of professional experience in product design (B2B, platform, or complex systems preferred)
• Direct experience designing for web applications, platforms, or technical products
• Strong understanding of system-level UX, workflows, and information architecture
• Experience working closely with engineering teams in agile or fast-moving environments
• Ability to clearly articulate design decisions and tradeoffs to technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable owning workstreams end-to-end
• Experience with prototyping and design tools (Figma)
• Familiarity with security-sensitive, regulated, or mission-critical environments is a strong plus
• Experience with 3D, real-time systems, or operational dashboards is a plus advantage
