Maven AGI is an enterprise AI platform on a mission to unleash business artificial general intelligence (AGI), starting with customer service. Founded in July 2023 by executives from HubSpot, Google, and Stripe, Maven builds conversational AI agents capable of delivering accurate, autonomous support that delights customers at scale.

Our platform unifies fragmented systems, integrates knowledge and personalization sources, and enables intelligent actions - all without costly system changes. We're laying the foundation for a future where our technology handles complex tasks, allowing people to focus on what they do best: creative problem-solving, relationship building, and delivering exceptional customer experiences.

We've started by reimagining the enterprise customer experience with a support use case. We believe today's support experience is broken: slow and painful for customers, and expensive and human-capital-intensive for companies. With recent advancements in Generative AI, it is now possible to deliver delightful customer experiences at a fraction of today's cost.

Maven has raised more than $75M from leading investors including M13 and Lux Capital and is scaling quickly, with a growing roster of Fortune 500 and high-growth technology customers.

Team

Maven has assembled a world-class team from Google, Meta, Amazon, and Stripe, and is supported by executives and advisors from OpenAI, Google, HubSpot, and Stripe.

Position Overview

We're looking for a hands-on, detail-oriented Senior Finance Manager to help scale our finance function as we grow. This is a builder's role: you'll own the accounting function end-to-end, partner closely with our outsourced bookkeeping team, and stand up the systems and processes that will carry us through our first audit and beyond.

Reporting directly to the CFO, you'll spend roughly 70% of your time on accounting operations and the monthly close, and 30% on FP&A, treasury, and strategic finance work - including investor and board reporting. This is an individual contributor role today, with the expectation that you'll build and manage a small team as we scale.

This is a great fit for someone a few years out of public accounting who wants ownership, exposure to investors and the executive team, and the chance to build a finance function from the ground up at a fast-moving AI company.

What You'll Do

Accounting Operations & Close (~70%)

  • Own the monthly close process end-to-end, managing our outsourced bookkeeping partner to deliver timely, accurate financial statements

  • Own revenue recognition under ASC 606 - contract review, performance obligation analysis, deferred revenue, and price allocation for our SaaS contracts

  • Oversee Accounts Payable through Ramp, including vendor management, approvals, and spend controls

  • Manage Accounts Receivable and collections to ensure healthy cash inflows

  • Coordinate payroll and benefits with our HR team and our PEO, including reviewing sales commission calculations before each run

  • Maintain and enforce accounting policies and internal controls in QuickBooks Online

  • Manage SaaS sales tax and nexus compliance (using third party software), including monitoring economic nexus thresholds as we grow into new states and countries

  • Build audit-ready documentation and workpapers to support a future financial statement audit

FP&A, Treasury & Strategic Finance (~30%)

  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and scenario planning in partnership with the CFO

  • Manage cash and treasury, including runway modeling and banking relationships

  • Track and analyze SaaS metrics (ARR, NRR, GRR, CAC, magic number, burn multiple) and tie them back to the GL

  • Prepare materials for monthly investor updates and quarterly board reporting

  • Partner with the CFO on ad hoc strategic projects — pricing analysis, unit economics, headcount planning, and fundraising support

Systems & Team Building

  • Evaluate, select, and implement finance tools as we scale beyond our current stack (QuickBooks Online, Ramp, PEO)

  • Document processes and build the playbook for a finance team that can scale with the company

  • Hire and mentor the first members of the accounting team

Who You Are

  • 4-5 years of total finance/accounting experience

  • 2-3 years at a Big Four firm (KPMG, Deloitte, PwC, EY), ideally in audit

  • 1-2 years of industry experience at a startup (Series A or B preferred)

  • SaaS experience strongly preferred - ideally including hands-on exposure to ASC 606 and SaaS metrics

  • Strong command of accounting fundamentals and the monthly close

  • Comfortable managing outsourced partners and owning outcomes without booking every transaction yourself

  • Self-directed problem solver who can research a technical accounting question, form a view, and drive it to resolution

  • Detail-oriented and organized, with the judgment to know when “good enough” is good enough in a startup environment

  • Excited to build - you see messy processes as opportunities, not obstacles

Nice to Have

  • CPA (active or in progress)

  • Experience implementing or improving finance systems

  • Exposure to equity/cap table administration (Carta)

  • Experience mentoring or managing direct reports
