Who we are at Osmo:
Osmo is a digital olfaction company, on a mission to give computers a sense of smell to improve the health and wellbeing of human life. Why? Our sense of smell both enriches and saves lives, and has a deep and direct connection to our emotions and memory. This foundational understanding of smell's impact has directly informed the development of our latest innovation: Generation.
Generation is a new kind of fragrance house powered by Olfactory Intelligence (OI) to blend AI with world-class perfumery. It will help brands create emotionally resonant scents faster, more accessibly, and with greater creative clarity. Our technology allows us to explore vast scent possibilities, discover novel ingredients, and design fragrances informed by both data and artistry.
Beyond fragrance, Olfactory Intelligence has applications across industries including manufacturing, security, medicine, and more. We believe in the power of automation and thoughtfully applied AI/ML to solve problems beyond the reach of human intuition alone. Osmo is headquartered in New York, NY, with a new facility in New Jersey, and offices in Somerville, MA.
Osmo is seeking a systems-minded Technical Operations Manager to support and scale our fragrance development operations. This is a cross-functional role focused on improving sample prep throughput, streamlining the R&D-to-production handoff, and codifying technical workflows as we grow.
You’ll be the connective tissue between fragrance development, applied research, manufacturing, product, engineering, performance & quality, and perfumery—ensuring projects and samples move forward clearly, quickly, and with the right processes in place.
This is a high-impact individual contributor role, ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of science, systems, and execution.
Key Responsibilities
Manage end-to-end fragrance development workflows, from sample request through fulfillment.
Track and forecast weekly sample prep throughput; identify and unblock bottlenecks.
Build and maintain internal dashboards and trackers for sample coordination, timelines, and capacity planning.
Create and maintain SOPs to support repeatable, cross-functional workflows between R&D and technical teams.
Support the setup and ongoing organization of our internal fragrance library.
Collaborate closely with Manufacturing, Perfumery, Engineering, and Product to ensure smooth handoffs from development to production.
Identify operational gaps or inefficiencies and propose scalable solutions.
Work with fragrance development and technical teams to structure timelines, communicate expectations, and ensure execution.
Required Qualifications
4+ years of experience in technical operations, R&D operations, or product operations.
Experience supporting cross-functional teams spanning R&D and engineering.
Strong organizational and project management skills, with a sharp attention to detail.
Proficiency with Notion, Google Suite, and project management tools (e.g., Asana, Airtable).
Comfort working with data and dashboards; SQL proficiency preferred.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment with evolving priorities.
Ways to Stand Out
Experience in fragrance, beauty, or other consumer product environments.
Familiarity with ERP systems.
A passion for building systems that help science and creativity work better together.
A demonstrated ability to connect high-level goals with day-to-day operational workflows.
Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, and more.
