Who we are at Osmo:

Osmo is a digital olfaction company, on a mission to give computers a sense of smell to improve the health and wellbeing of human life. Why? Our sense of smell both enriches and saves lives, and has a deep and direct connection to our emotions and memory. This foundational understanding of smell's impact has directly informed the development of our latest innovation: Generation.

Generation is a new kind of fragrance house powered by Olfactory Intelligence (OI) to blend AI with world-class perfumery. It will help brands create emotionally resonant scents faster, more accessibly, and with greater creative clarity. Our technology allows us to explore vast scent possibilities, discover novel ingredients, and design fragrances informed by both data and artistry.

Beyond fragrance, Olfactory Intelligence has applications across industries including manufacturing, security, medicine, and more. We believe in the power of automation and thoughtfully applied AI/ML to solve problems beyond the reach of human intuition alone. Osmo is headquartered in New York, NY, with a new facility in New Jersey, and offices in Somerville, MA.

Generation by Osmo is hiring a Fragrance Development Project Manager to be the operator at the center of our fragrance engine. You’ll work alongside our Fragrance Development Managers (FDMs) / evaluators, partner with perfumers, and connect with commercial, lab, and manufacturing teams. You’ll also work directly with clients, making sure projects move from brief to delivery with clarity, speed, and quality.

This is a hands-on, client-facing role. You’ll run projects end-to-end, hold teams accountable to timelines, highlight risks and dependencies, and build the systems that make fragrance development scalable. It’s a fit for someone who thrives in a startup environment, is energized by building new ways of working, and is excited to shape how a modern fragrance house operates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage fragrance development projects from start to finish: briefs, formulas, evaluations, samples, QC, and client approvals.

  • Join client meetings as a trusted partner, capture feedback, and turn it into clear next steps while setting expectations on timelines and deliverables.

  • Track milestones and dependencies, flag risks early, and hold teams accountable so projects stay on schedule.

  • Coordinate across perfumers, FDMs, evaluators, lab, commercial, and manufacturing to ensure smooth handoffs and aligned priorities.

  • Oversee sample delivery with precision, making sure every sample is accurate, documented, and delivered on time in the right format.

  • Build and improve systems — using both standard tools and our proprietary platforms — to bring consistency, visibility, and scalability to fragrance development.

  • Support perfumers and evaluators with formula prep, evaluation sessions, and feedback cycles, helping creative work translate seamlessly into client-ready outcomes.

Required Qualifications

  • 3–6 years in operations, project management, or product development. Experience in fragrance is a strong plus, but candidates from consumer goods or startup environments with strong operational and client-facing skills are also encouraged to apply.

  • Proven operator who can juggle multiple complex projects and keep cross-functional teams aligned.

  • Strong communicator with a client-ready presence, comfortable guiding both creatives and technical peers.

  • Systems thinker with experience designing workflows, tools, and processes that scale.

  • Startup DNA — thrives in fast-moving, ambiguous environments, energized by building in a disruptive space, and comfortable wearing many hats.

  • Genuine curiosity about fragrance, sensory science, and AI-driven creation.

Ways to stand out

  • Technical skills (automation, coding, or data) to build smarter workflows.

  • Experience working with creative teams.

Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, and more.

If this role inspires you we’d encourage you to apply. We are committed to recruiting, developing, and retaining an incredible team optimized for a diversity of thought, background, and approaches. All employment decisions and responsibilities are determined based on current ability and your ability to grow, without regard to race, color, gender identity, sex, sexual orientation, religion, age, marital status, physical, mental, or sensory disability, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law.
