Team:

As part of the Factory Test team, you will support our mission of changing the way rockets are built and flown. The factory test team collaborates closely with our additive, manufacturing, test and design teams in an effort to validate large 3D printed structures and other complex rocket components. As a Factory Test Technician, you will have the opportunity to learn about the revolutionary technology that Relativity is working to bring to market and support our mission to make humanity a multi-planetary species. You will help us to build world class test facilities, state of the art structural test stands, and launch the world’s first additively manufactured rocket.

What you’ll do:

The Factory Test team plays a part in the test and development of a variety of different products created by the factory of the future. You will interface with and support the factory test engineering team as they design and manufacture the test equipment that will support the development of our next generation launch vehicle. As a Factory Test Technician II, you will be responsible for the fabrication of these systems while providing creative solutions to expedite the completion of projects. You will play a critical part in helping to identify paths of least resistance while maintaining technical best practices and safety. You should bring a team player attitude and be willing to mentor others in your areas of expertise.

To be successful in this role, your skillsets should be diverse. Daily responsibilities could include metal fabrication, electrical installation and troubleshooting, hydraulic diagnostics, fluid system fabrication, lifting and rigging, welding, machine operation, and more. You should be comfortable interfacing with and operating test equipment under close guidance or direction from the test engineering and specialist teams.   • Work with test engineers to develop existing test stands as well as fabricate new ones.
  • Fabricate pressure test panels, cryogenic fluid systems, hydraulic systems, test fixtures, data acquisition systems and harnessing to print.
  • Receive mentorship from more experienced members of the team in their areas of expertise.
  • Accelerate the completion of projects by looking for creative ways to de-scope or implement scrappy solutions where possible.
  • Strong team player attitude and demonstrated professionalism while interfacing with test engineers and managers.

What you need to know:

  • 3+ years of experience in aerospace test, fabrication, or a related field
  • Track record of good craftsmanship and taking pride in your work
  • Proficient with email and internet navigation
  • Comfortable operating personnel lifts, forklifts, telehandlers, overhead crane, etc.
  • Must be comfortable working at heights and confined spaces
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. unassisted
  • Must be able to stoop, bend, crawl, and maneuver in tight spaces
  • Track record of safe work habits
  • Ability to work non-standard shifts, overtime, and weekends as required
  • High school diploma or GED

Nice to haves but not required:

  • Experience using work orders, inventory requests, schematics, and drawings
  • Experience cleaning, inspecting, and rebuilding fluid system components
  • Experience with cryogenics, electrical systems, hydraulic systems
  • Experience troubleshooting technical issues
  • Prior work with primary structure testing and critical lift operations
