We are seeking an accomplished Engineering Manager to lead our Warehouse Management System (WMS) engineering team. This team designs, builds, and maintains Stord’s cloud-based WMS—streamlining warehousing, inventory management, and order fulfillment for Omnichannel Brands and Third-Party Logistics (3PL) providers. In addition, the team is developing our new Labor Management System (LMS), leveraging real-time data from the WMS along with AI and other advanced tools to drive operational efficiency across Stord’s network of facilities.

As an Engineering Manager, you will lead a talented team of engineers responsible for building and maintaining our Warehouse Management System (WMS) and developing our next-generation Labor Management System (LMS). You’ll champion technical excellence, empower your team to operate with autonomy and speed, and drive the delivery of scalable, high-quality software solutions.

This role will challenge you to grow as a strategic leader—navigating complexity, spearheading high-impact initiatives, and inspiring a high-performing team in a fast-moving, execution-focused environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead & Develop: Build, mentor, and manage a high-performing engineering team, fostering collaboration, innovation, and technical excellence.

  • Technical Leadership: Provide architectural and technical guidance to ensure scalability, security, and maintainability of our systems.

  • Execution & Delivery: Oversee the development lifecycle, driving efficient planning, prioritization, and execution of projects.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Product, Design, and Operations to align technical initiatives with business goals.

  • Process Improvement: Streamline engineering processes, implement best practices, and enhance operational efficiency.

  • Code & Architecture Oversight: Maintain high code quality through design reviews, technical mentorship, and adherence to best practices.

  • Strategic Planning: Shape the engineering roadmap in alignment with Stord’s broader objectives.

What You’ll Bring

  • 8+ years in software engineering, including 3+ years in engineering leadership.

  • Strong background in development—ideally with Elixir/Phoenix or other functional programming languages.

  • Experience with large-scale distributed systems or complex enterprise applications.

  • Proven ability to mentor, coach, and develop engineers in a culture of learning and improvement.

  • Data-driven decision-making skills in fast-paced, evolving environments.

  • Strong grasp of software development best practices, system architecture, and DevOps principles.

  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.

Bonus Points

  • Experience as an Engineering Manager at multiple organizations.

  • Previous startup experience.

  • Background in logistics or supply chain technology.

  • Hands-on experience with WMS platforms or Labor Management Systems.
