  • Physical Layer: Strong understanding of network cabling best practices, including proper termination, labeling, and testing of Ethernet cables (Cat5e, Cat6). Experience with fiber optic cable handling and basic testing.

  • Network Device Interaction: Basic familiarity with the purpose and function of network devices such as switches, routers, and wireless access points from an installation perspective (e.g., identifying ports, understanding status lights, basic console access for initial configuration details).

  • VLANs (Basic): Awareness of VLAN concepts and the ability to verify VLAN assignments on network ports for proper device connectivity.

  • Wireless Networking: Experience in connecting devices to Wi-Fi networks, troubleshooting basic Wi-Fi connectivity issues, and understanding Wi-Fi security (WPA2/WPA3).

  • Patching & Cabling Management: Expertise in managing network patch panels, structured cabling systems, and ensuring clean and organized cable runs in data closets and user workspaces.

  • Network Tools: Familiarity with using basic network diagnostic tools (e.g., cable testers, network sniffers like Wireshark for basic packet analysis, port scanners for verifying service availability).

  • Data Center: Good understanding of telecom, connectivity, power consumption of IT equipment and Layout & designing of MDF/IDF.
