About the Role

This role will be focused on mechanical design, prototyping, and preparing designs for manufacturing. In this role you will work with the team to identify high level needs for future propulsors and test equipment and then develop concepts to address these needs. Individually, you will be responsible for doing first principles analysis, modeling, prototyping, and getting assemblies manufactured (internally and externally). As a part of a team, you will participate in and present during reviews, assist in propulsor assembly, delegate work to technicians, and other related tasks as needed.
The successful candidate will be someone who is comfortable both working with their hands as well as working at a computer. They will be eager to ask questions and build new insights into how things work.

What You’ll Do:
Design mechanical assemblies for ground and flight hardware
Plan builds for prototypes using a variety of manufacturing methods
Guide and work alongside technicians to build prototype hardware
Manage projects with external manufacturers

What You’ll Need:
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering (or equivalent) and at least 3 years of related work experience, or Master’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering (or equivalent) and at least 1 year of related work experience
Demonstrated experience successfully managing manufacturing projects with external companies
Demonstrated hands on experience with at least one of the following: CNC machining, composites, 3D printing, prototyping, mechanical assembly
Experience using CAD software (SolidWorks preferred)
Basic knowledge of stress analysis
Experience managing the time and tasks of technicians
U.S. Person status is required as this position needs to access export controlled data

Bonus Qualifications:
Electronics experience
Pilot experience and/or aircraft maintenance experience
Demonstrated experience of mechanical analysis (hand calcs, software, or other)
