As a Brakes Actuation Engineer in the Vehicle Systems Engineering team, you will work to deliver the brakes actuation hardware for our purpose built vehicle. This encompasses Hydraulics, Electrical, and Structural components within the system. You will be a part of the passionate team that designs, develops, and validates the system to offer a world class ride comfort experience to our riders.

In this role, you will:

  • Develop 2D & 3D CAD, in CATIA V6, for electromechanical components within the chassis system
  • Evaluate the static, dynamic, structural, and thermal-mechanical performances of mechanical assemblies
  • Lead supplier relationships and manage component designs, timelines, and execution
  • Collaborate with different cross-functional Zoox teams such as firmware, controls, manufacturing, service, and vehicle integration teams
  • Evaluate advanced electromechanical design concepts for future product integration

Qualifications

  • B.S. or M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering and 6+ years of engineering experience
  • Experience in vehicle engineering, chassis systems design, and component delivery
  • Understanding of hydraulic systems, friction performance, electrical systems, and system architecture
  • Experience in testing and vehicle development
  • Knowledge of Systems engineering, V-model, Validation methods, product reliability, and Systematic problem-solving techniques

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with brakes and steering systems within automotive application
  • CAN & Network skills
  • Simulink software proficiency and vehicle and hydraulic system modeling
Compensation
There are three major components to compensation for this position: salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. The salary range for this position is $137,000 to $190,000. A sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling, as well as positioning within a level, is determined by a range of factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate's relevant years of experience, domain knowledge, and interview performance. The salary range listed in this posting is representative of the range of levels Zoox is considering for this position.
