Zoox is looking for a Test Engineer to be responsible for the testing of our sensors and ECUs used in our autonomous vehicle. In this role, you will be developing automated tests for critical components including but not limited to lidars, cameras, radars, telematics, HV modules, sensor pod accessories, etc. You will work cross-functionally with our electrical engineering and software teams to develop and test new products and technologies. We are looking for an engineer who is curious, enthusiastic, and not afraid to embrace new technologies!

In this role, you will:

  • Build and release test solutions for use on the manufacturing lines at Zoox and at contract manufacturing sites
  • Develop test scripts to verify functionality, control test instruments, capture test parameters, and analyze results for continuous improvement
  • Implement adequate test coverage across all phases of manufacturing (PCBA, module, system, vehicle) through collaboration with other teams
  • Release updated test programs for new generations of hardware and software
  • Support the test and validation of prototype designs
  • Establish best practices and drive continuous improvement on test deployment, runtime, and yield

Qualifications

  • BS in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, physics, or equivalent technical degree
  • 5+ years of industry experience
  • 3+ years of experience testing complex electronic assemblies in a manufacturing environment
  • 3+ years of experience with Python and shell (bash) scripting
  • Experience in developing automated manufacturing tests on Linux and debugging failures using commands in the terminal

Bonus Qualifications

  • MS in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, physics, or equivalent technical degree
  • Experience with lidars, cameras, radars, telematics, high-voltage assemblies, automotive ECUs
  • Knowledge of pytest, unittest, or similar test frameworks
  • Knowledge of automotive protocols such as CAN or automotive Ethernet
  • Strong troubleshooting skills at both system and component levels
Compensation
There are three major components to compensation for this position: salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. The salary range for this position is $119,000 to $195,000. A sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling, as well as positioning within a level, is determined by a range of factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate's relevant years of experience, domain knowledge, and interview performance. The salary range listed in this posting is representative of the range of levels Zoox is considering for this position.
