Autonomous vehicles have some of the largest, most complex software ever shipped in a safety-critical environment. Solving that problem is one of the most exciting technical challenges of our lifetime.
As a Software Quality Assurance Engineer at Zoox, you will help accelerate our product development by helping our developers build the safest and most reliable autonomous driving software possible. As developers build new features, you will develop extensive test plans, design simulated tests to execute many different scenarios and triage issues seen during on-vehicle testing. These efforts are critical to exposing unforeseen failure modes, implementation bugs, and other issues as a result of new feature development. You will participate regularly in-vehicle testing missions where you will see these new features behaving in the real world. Following these missions, you will help to triage and root cause issues seen during testing and will help to analyze test results to ensure existing functionality does not regress from release to release. Your ability to distill complex systems and root cause issues will be critical to producing a safe and stable vehicle platform.

In this role, you will:

  • Create, execute, and maintain comprehensive system test plans that exercise Zoox’s high-performance service delivery applications and components
  • Strategize and plan large-scale testing programs involving cross-functional teams
  • Design, implement, and maintain test environments, tools, and assets for production-level validation of service components
  • Track, report, and prioritize defects using our defect tracking system, and follow through on their resolution
  • Test, troubleshoot, and root-cause full stack components that span from the hardware/firmware level to the user interface
  • Instrument quality standards and drive high-quality bars for development and quality teams

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related quantitative field and 3+ years of experience
  • Strong knowledge of QA methodologies with experience writing scripts to exercise workflows
  • Strong debugging and analytical skills. Experience working with logs and tools to triage issues and working with large and complex systems
  • Experience with tools for test management, bug tracking, and monitoring
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment with cross-functional teams, utilizing strong communication skills to report findings, impact, and priority

Bonus Qualifications:

  • Domain knowledge in the Autonomous Vehicle industry
  • Understanding of software-firmware interaction
