In this role, you will:
- Set vehicle heat-protection targets, communicate the vision, develop development plans, and lead cross-functional teams.
- Cascade requirements to subsystems, establish best practices, and integrate thermal considerations early.
- Lead heat-protection workstreams, support testing and validation, analyze risk data, and ensure milestone progress.
- Track fleet thermal performance, investigate incidents, report metrics, and drive continuous enhancements.
- Present updates on heat protection status, track issues, and report status to the wider vehicle attribute team
- Track open issues and ensure progress to closure using Zoox systems (Jira, Confluence)
Qualifications
- BS in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field
- 8+ years of experience in thermal engineering or heat transfer applications, and a strong understanding of passive thermal management techniques
- Experience with thermal design and development, and vehicle-level testing and validation
- Experience in component integration and attributes management, preferably within the automotive sector
- Proficiency in thermal analysis tools and data analysis (Ansys Icepak)
Bonus Qualifications
- MS or PhD in relevant engineering discipline
- Previous experience working in advanced or early concept phases
- Familiarity with fleet data analysis and monitoring systems
- Background in design for manufacturing and reliability
