Test Engineer
Amca
The Advanced Manufacturing Company of America (“Amca”) is reconfiguring how aerospace and defense builds. We design, manufacture, and deliver the next generation of mission-critical hardware to accelerate throughput and performance of the most important systems on Earth.
Role overview
Amca's test engineer will own the design, build, and operation of an in-house testing facility that will rapidly and reliably qualify new aerospace components and subsystems for flight.
Responsibilities
-
Develop tests for the development, qualification, and production testing of new designs
Support Amca design engineering with custom test solutions for qualification of new hardware
Take raw inputs like part function and form factor and develop test stand from scratch that verifies part will function during all expected operating conditions with margin
Support Amca portfolio companies with their specific testing needs, including design and implementation of more automated functional checks that are integrated into the manufacturing process
-
Design, activate, and support operations at Amca’s in-house test facility capable of qualifying flight hardware in record time
Use a deep understanding of FAA, EASA, and military certification requirements, as well as industry standards like DO-160, to select assets and capabilities that greatly reduce the lead time to complete certification testing
Work with design engineers to understand system requirements and component functions within the broader system, and tailor the test facility to meet these evolving needs, including developing and executing component and system level qualification tests
Serve as technical lead for equipment selection, purchasing, and activation
Lead the design and build of custom test setups, created in close coordination with design engineers
Ensure all test assets and operations are well documented, ensuring that the operation is capable of receiving and maintaining relevant industry certifications (e.g. AS9100)
Serve as a critical part of the prototyping iteration loop, helping to understand root causes of test failures and working with design engineers to iteratively improve designs
Collaborate with Amca leadership to continually add testing capabilities needed for upcoming product development plans
Retain an informed view of the state of the art technology available on the market for testing and data collection, and seek to constantly upgrade and expand our in-house test facility to ensure the lowest possible test lead time and highest possible product reliability
