Amca is building airplanes for the 21st century, starting by designing new hardware that flies on today’s planes. Aviation was once humanity’s boldest ambition, but the industry hasn’t successfully built a new plane in 40 years. We don’t think it has to be this way.

Overview

You’ll gain hands-on experience in every part of the product lifecycle, from 3D modeling and prototyping to testing and refinement, while learning what it takes to build reliable, manufacturable flight hardware.

What You’ll Do

  • Contribute to the design and prototyping of new mechanical hardware

  • Work with engineers to define requirements and challenge assumptions

  • Develop detailed CAD models, structural analyses, and production drawings

  • Prototype new components with manufacturability, integration, and performance in mind

  • Support qualification testing through fixture design, environmental testing, and data collection

  • Collaborate with build engineers to ensure new designs are production-ready and incorporate DFM feedback

  • Help manage drawing revisions, BOMs, and part configurations according to aerospace standards

Who You Are

  • Exceptionally curious, eager to learn, and comfortable jumping into unfamiliar problems

  • Hands-on and practical, with a passion for building, testing, and troubleshooting

  • Independent, resourceful, and able to take ownership of projects

  • Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, including structural and thermal considerations

  • Proficient in CAD (SolidWorks, Creo, or similar) and familiar with GD&T

  • Experience with basic hand calculations and finite element modeling (FEM)

Nice To Have

  • Prior experience in aerospace, automotive, robotics, or hardware prototyping

  • Experience working in a machine shop or lab environment

  • Familiarity with PLM/PDM systems
