Amca is building airplanes for the 21st century, starting by designing new hardware that flies on today’s planes. Aviation was once humanity’s boldest ambition, but the industry hasn’t successfully built a new plane in 40 years. We don’t think it has to be this way.
Overview:
The Mechanical Build Engineering role is responsible for owning the build procedures used to develop qualification hardware, and iterate on the initial builds to ensure highly reliable production level builds at our subsidiaries once product maturity has been achieved. You will serve as the extreme owner for build process of the parts we design. Your days will consist of hands on R&D for new build methodologies and specifications, while also working closely with the design engineering team to ensure design for manufacturability of our new products.
Responsibilities:
Develop build methodology from industry standards and conduct cutting edge R&D to improve on our component manufacturing processes and unlock new methods
Oversee the assembly and manufacturing procedures for both new and existing hardware
Act as the extreme owner of DFM changes to part drawings. You will be empowered to make changes to the drawings as required to eliminate repeat failures
Conduct development campaigns for new manufacturing methods and write specifications on manufacturing best practices based on real world data for the design engineers to abide by
Trade purchasing commercial build/manufacturing capabilities off the shelf against designing and developing the capabilities in house
Act as the extreme owner for various manufacturing methods, you will be the ultimate source of information for design engineers on how machines work and how to best optimize parts for various methods
Ideate and implement tooling, enabling high-quality build of Amca hardware
Identify, plan, and execute capital equipment, machine, and layout upgrades to meet changing needs
Partner with engineering and production teams to generate ideas, designs, and improvements for current and next-generation vehicles
Assist design engineers in guiding new designs from concepts to qualified, production-capable aerospace components
Prototype new components at our in-house R&D lab. You will be expected to be intimately involved with any prototype development
