Sr. Software Engineer

Amca is building airplanes for the 21st century, starting by designing new hardware that flies on today’s planes. Aviation was once humanity’s boldest ambition, but the industry hasn’t successfully built a new plane in 40 years. We don’t think it has to be this way.

Overview:

The Sr. Software Engineer role is responsible for building and maintaining the internal tools and systems that enable Amca and its subsidiaries to move at the fastest pace in the industry. You will work across every function — engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, finance, and sales — developing full-stack applications, maturing our ERP infrastructure, and applying data science to help us identify and win the right business. We are looking for a senior engineer who operates with high autonomy, brings sharp technical judgment to ambiguous problems, and drives multiple initiatives forward without sacrificing quality.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain full-stack internal tools and applications across ERP, manufacturing, supply chain, finance, and engineering workflows

  • Own integrations between our ERP and other internal systems, improving how data flows across the company

  • Partner with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, finance, and sales teams to identify inefficiencies and build software solutions that eliminate them

  • Apply data science and analytical techniques to support sales efforts — scrubbing bid opportunities and surfacing insights that help us pursue the most valuable work

  • Mature and improve existing software systems, reducing technical debt and improving reliability and usability

  • Maintain a clear, visible prioritization system across competing requests and initiatives from multiple teams

  • Use AI-assisted development tools with good judgment to accelerate output where appropriate

  • Support software integration and tooling for lab and testing equipment, working alongside engineering teams to ensure data capture, automation, and reliability

  • Serve as the internal authority on software architecture, tooling decisions, and engineering best practices

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field

  • 3+ years of professional software engineering experience

  • Full-stack development proficiency

  • Must be a U.S. person as defined by ITAR

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • 7+ years of professional software engineering experience

  • Experience working with ERP systems — building integrations, customizations, or applications on top of them

  • Background in or exposure to manufacturing, aerospace, or defense environments

  • Experience with data science, analytics, or business intelligence tooling

  • Demonstrated ability to own and improve existing codebases

  • Comfortable working directly with non-technical stakeholders to translate needs into working software

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be able to travel as needed in response to business needs with short notice

  • Must be able to work extended hours, including weekends, as needed to meet business needs

  • This position in based in El Segundo, CA and requires being on-site

ITAR Requirements:

To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
