Overview:
The Business Development Manager, Government role is responsible for identifying and pursuing government procurement opportunities that are meaningful to Amca and its subsidiaries. You will evaluate opportunities against our technical capabilities, lead the preparation of proposal packages, and serve as the primary point of contact for government customers and procurement agencies. We are looking for a technically fluent professional who can move quickly from opportunity identification to submission, understands the nuances of government procurement, and brings the credibility and communication skills to represent Amca externally at a high level.
Responsibilities
Identify, evaluate, and generate government procurement opportunities aligned with Amca's technical capabilities and strategic priorities
Perform first-cut technical assessments of opportunities, determining fit and potential impact before committing internal resources
Lead the preparation and submission of proposal packages, ensuring technical accuracy, compliance, and competitiveness
Serve as the primary liaison between Amca and government procurement agencies — owning the relationship, managing ongoing communication, and representing the company with professionalism and credibility
Coordinate internally with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to validate technical feasibility and gather inputs for proposals
Track submission deadlines, contract status, and pipeline activity — maintaining visibility across all active and pending opportunities
Stay current on government procurement regulations, compliance requirements, and relevant agency priorities
Track key metrics — win rate, proposal volume, pipeline value, and cycle time from identification to submission — to measure performance and continuously sharpen our pursuit strategy
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a technical, business, or related field
Experience in government procurement, business development, or a customer-facing role within aerospace or defense
Strong written and verbal communication skills — comfortable interfacing directly with government customers and internal technical teams
Must be a U.S. person as defined by ITAR
Preferred Skills and Experience:
5+ years of experience in government business development, proposals, or program management within aerospace or defense
Familiarity with DLA, ESA, or similar government procurement agencies and their processes
Experience writing and submitting government proposal packages or SAR documentation
Technical degree or hands-on technical background — ability to read and evaluate engineering requirements independently
Knowledge of FAR/DFARS regulations and government contracting compliance
Existing relationships within government procurement or defense supply chain communities
Proficiency with CRM or pipeline management tools
Additional Requirements:
Must be able to travel as needed in response to business needs with short notice
Must be able to work extended hours, including weekends, as needed to meet business needs
This position in based in El Segundo, CA and requires being on-site
