Inductive Bio is building an AI compound optimization platform that dramatically accelerates hit-to-lead and lead optimization. Our state-of-the-art AI models—trained on a rapidly growing, proprietary ADMET dataset—are accelerating dozens of active drug programs with leading biopharma partners, and adoption is growing rapidly each month. Backed by top investors and advised by world-class drug hunters, Inductive Bio is quickly becoming the partner of choice for innovative biopharma companies.

We are seeking an accomplished Medicinal Chemist with over 20 years of industry experience to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you'll collaborate directly with top-tier biopharma teams across a variety of therapeutic areas and small molecule modalities, leveraging our AI platform to optimize molecules and accelerate drug programs. As a scientific leader, you will also play a critical role in business development interactions and will partner closely with our internal machine learning and software engineering teams to enhance our technology.

What you’ll do:

  • Design and propose new analogs to advance hit-to-lead and lead optimization efforts while being supported by Inductive's AI platform

  • Analyze structure-activity relationships (SAR) and structure-property relationships (SPR) to guide compound design and improve target profile alignment

  • Review in vitro and in vivo data to refine design hypotheses and prioritize compounds for synthesis

  • Provide strategic input on medicinal chemistry direction and compound progression across multiple drug discovery programs

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including biology, pharmacology, and DMPK to advance drug discovery programs

  • Guide the development of best-in-class AI for chemistry tools through close collaboration with Inductive’s team of machine learning and software engineers

  • Join business development calls with potential partners to act as a scientific leader and domain expert

  • Be an early user of Inductive Bio’s software products and provide guidance to the team to make them scientifically valid and easy-to-use

  • Collaborate with our partners to write publications for journals and conferences

  • Apply your expertise toward strategic leadership of Inductive’s scientific, technical, and business roadmap

  • Represent Inductive Bio externally at conferences and events

Who you are:

  • You have a Ph.D. in Synthetic Organic Chemistry, Bio-organic Chemistry, or Medicinal Chemistry and at least 20 years of drug discovery experience in industry

  • You have a track record of delivering quality small molecule development candidates and a deep understanding of the entire interdisciplinary drug discovery process, from hit-finding to IND

  • You have established yourself as a scientific leader through a record of publications, presentations, and patents

  • You are excited about how AI can be used to accelerate drug discovery

  • You are an outstanding verbal and written communicator and are comfortable leading external meetings

  • You are excited about teaching and guiding the next generation of scientific leaders

  • You are excited to chart the course of a fast-growing startup while collaborating deeply with a cross-disciplinary team of medicinal chemists, machine learning engineers, software engineers, and business professionals

  • You are entrepreneurial and thrive in ambiguous environments
